The study investigated the role of intelligence led policing in curbing contemporary crimesin Nigeria (A study of Enugu State). In Nigeria today, security lapses are increasing despite the efforts of government and non-governmental organizations to wipe it out. This have provided a fertile ground for this study to investigate the causes, effects, consequences and solutions to this daredevil. Indeed, most of the citizens are afraid every time because they felt that their lives and properties are not protected. These situations are getting worst on daily basis and has given the country a bad image in international communities. This study is an attempt to address these issues. The specific objectives of this study include to examine the role of the Nigeria Police in the administration of justice, to identify the inadequacies of the police in the discharge of their functions and her government and to proffer practical solutions for combating crimes in Nigeria. To achieve these objectives, the researcher drafted three research questions and three corresponding hypotheses. The researcher used tables and simple percentage to analyze the data collected from Likert-standard questionnaire administered to a sample of 240 respondents. The hypotheses were tested using Chi-Square statistics. The researcher found out that there are series of factors which cause crime in society and they includes thus: unemployment, environmental factors, genetic factors, social factors etc. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that crime is somehow inbuilt in human nature. Hence, the researcher recommended that clearly defined goals, Results-Oriented Tactics and Strategies, Effective Intelligence, Active Collaboration and Information Sharing will assist in intelligent policing and fighting crime.
